Day 1: Nairobi On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be transferred to the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi where you will spend the night on a bed & breakfast basis. Depending on your flight arrival time, the remainder of the day is free for you to explore Nairobi at your own pace. Meals : BB Accommodation : Safari Park Hotel Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve (Approx 6hr drive) Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you'll travel towards Kenya's fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. Look out for the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment. You'll pass the impressive Longonot Earth Satellite Station as you head across the Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Masai Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Meals : FB Accommodation : Masai Mara Sopa Lodge Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve You will be woken up early for a morning game drive in the Masai Mara, the day is at your leisure until the afternoon game drive. At certain times of the year the reserve is the scene of one of the greatest wildlife spectacles, the Wildebeest Migration - which you could be witness to if you time your safari accordingly. Meals : FB Accommodation : Masai Mara Sopa Lodge Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park (Approx 5-6hr drive) Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, you'll travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat & barley cover the landscape as you head North to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Masailand. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at your destination, Lake Nakuru. The waters here are often coloured shimmering flamingo pink, from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores. Once in the park, there will be a game drive en route to the lodge. Following lunch you continue to Lake Naivasha where you overnight at the Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge Meals : FB Accommodation : Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge Day 5: Amboseli National Park (Approx 6hr drive) Leaving Lake Naivasha behind, you continue towards Nairobi and then head South East towards the town of Emali, where you turn South towards Amboseli Sopa Lodge where you arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon you have a game drive in the park, returning to the lodge as sun sets. Meals : FB Accommodation : Amboseli Sopa Lodge Day 6: Amboseli National Park Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in Amboseli, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Meals : FB Accommodation : Amboseli Sopa Lodge Day 7: Day of Departure (Approx 5hr drive) Following an early morning game drive and breakfast you’ll hopefully catch your last clear early morning view of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you leave Amboseli behind; heading West to the colourful border town of Namanga. Here you may find a good bargain on the Masai's unique beadwork. Then turn North along a good tarmac road across the beautiful and seemingly never ending Athi Plains, arriving in Kenya's bustling capital city of Nairobi by midday. Meals : B |
