A 7-day guided climb of the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, via the Marangu Route.

The Marangu Route is the most popular way up Africa's highest mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro. Nicknamed the 'Coca-Cola' route, this 7-day trail is followed by 50 percent of all climbers.

The path is well defined and 'climber friendly' to make your adventure a little easier. Your accommodation consists of mountain huts which provide adequate shelter, bottled water, and even beer & soft drinks.

Climb Kilimanjaro, meet other climbers from all over the world, and make your adventure a social and friendly trip. This is a very scenic route with good views of Mawenzi.

Killimanjaro Marangu Climb - lunch on the Marangu Route

Day 1: Meet Your Mountain Guide at Moshi


You are picked up at the Kilimanjaro Airport and transferred to Moshi where you meet your guide at the Springlands Hotel.

You are briefed about the Kilimanjaro climb and will be able to hire any equipment you require. Dinner (not included) and overnight at the Springlands Hotel



 
 

Day 2: Start Your Kili Climb to Mandara


Head towards Kilimanjaro National Park and enjoy some wildlife viewing on the way to Marangu, for the 1st section of the climb through the beautiful rainforests.

This section of the Kilimanjaro climb will take about 3-5hr to a height of 2,750m. Stay overnight in Mandara Hut, where your accommodation is in the form of dormitory-style chalets.

Spend the evening relaxing and socialising with fellow climbers.

Day 3: Reach a Height of 3700m


Rise & shine early, and set off through the last section of the rainforest. The landscape changes and, during the steep 5-7hr walk, the altitude will begin to take effect but it should not deter you.

You are in beautiful surroundings and reach a height of 3700m. Horombo Hut, your accommodation for the night, has views of both Kibo and Mawenzi.

Day 4: Ascend to Kibo Hut


A 5-7hr walk takes you past cactus-like giant groundsel. Within an hour you will arrive at the last watering point.

At this stage of your Kiimanjaro climb you need to fill up with water, take a breather, and then head off through a broad desert zone between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. This area is known as the Kibo Saddle and is at a height of 4,700m.

Spend the night in a dormitory-style chalet at Kibo Hut.

Day 5: Watch the Sunrise at Gilman's Point


Start just after midnight for a 5hr climb, arriving in time to watch the sunrise at Gillmans Point - 5,681m, on the crater rim.

The final climb to Uhuru Peak takes you to the highest point in Africa at 5,896m. After taking in the awe of conquering Kilimanjaro, you descend for 4-7hr to Horombo Hut to stay overnight.

Day 6: Descend to Park Gate


You wake up to a satisfying feeling and descend to the Park Gate, 5-7hr, where you will be met and transferred to Springlands Hotel.

You can spend the rest of your day relaxing, and relishing your sense of achievement, before dinner (not included) and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Say Goodbye to Mount Kilimanjaro


After breakfast you will be transferred from Moshi to Kilimanjaro for your onward travel arrangements.
